Fortune Sound Club celebrates 17 years with Toro y Moi, joining us for a special DJ set on Saturday, September 26.
Since opening its doors in Vancouver’s Chinatown in 2009, Fortune Sound Club has become a cornerstone of the city’s nightlife and music community. Over the past 17 years, the venue has built its reputation by bringing together emerging artists, global talent and Vancouver’s creative community under one roof.
Fortune has welcomed countless artists through its doors, often at pivotal moments in their careers, while remaining a home for local DJs, artists, promoters and communities that have helped shape Vancouver’s nightlife. From intimate live shows and early artist appearances to club nights that have become institutions of their own, Fortune has continued to evolve alongside the city while staying rooted in music, art and culture.
To celebrate 17 years, Fortune welcomes Toro y Moi for a special anniversary DJ set. For nearly two decades, Chaz Bear has built Toro y Moi into one of the most versatile and forward-thinking projects in contemporary music. From his early influence on the chillwave movement to explorations across indie, hip-hop and electronic music, along with sounds inspired by his Filipino roots, his career has been defined by constant evolution and experimentation.
Seventeen years later, Fortune Sound Club continues to bring people together through music while helping push Vancouver’s nightlife and culture forward.
